Let’s talk about menswear. I was going to start this (possibly) monthly series with a discussion of how menswear suits should fit, but I think that’s been done enough, and I don’t want to reinvent the wheel. So let’s move on from that to actually looking at some sweet menswear.
If you follow me on Twitter, you know that lately I’ve been having this problem with Dolce & Gabbana. The problem being that I’m obsessed with them. I’ve had actual dreams about the Fall/Winter 2016 collection. It’s sick. If you don’t follow me on Twitter, then honestly I’m confused and hurt.
So, given the great Dolce and Gabbana problem, let’s look at their Spring/Summer 2017 menswear collection!
The collection was music inspired, and definitely gave off a jazzy Italian vibe. Like Baz Luhrmann’s The Great Gatsby set in Sicily plus leopard print.

I’m not sure if I’m ever feeling outgoing enough to draw that much attention to myself, but I seriously love when other people wear shiny gold clothes. I definitely want to see this on the red carpet.
Also, I really like these bronze shoes.
There were a lot of jazzy and fun musical jackets in this collection. They’re pretty bold, but I like that Dolce and Gabbana are giving people who wear menswear the opportunity to be bold and have fun with their suits instead of having to choose from an endless array of black, grey, and navy.
Buuut, here are a couple of sharp, textured and trimmed black suits for those days when a shiny gold jacket just isn’t appropriate (read: bad days).
Okay, now let’s check out some casual looks.
I think this one is a little too Italian for me. I just don’t love baggy pants and sandals on a dude. But if that’s your thing, then D&G want you to live your Sicilian jazz dream.
I love the rest of these. Lots of black and white with gold accents, and some awesome Jazz Age imagery with Italian influences.
Honestly, if you’re confident enough to wear shiny leopard print pants, I’m into it.
And then we have these:
I don’t understand what these are. I think they’re these long nightgown type things with matching pants underneath? Is it sort of jodhpuri suit-inspired garment? I’m not sure. I don’t love it.
Finally, here’s the finale photo just for fun:
These are just some of my favorite pieces from the D&G Spring/Summer 2017 menswear collection, but there were a lot more to choose from. Tweet/comment/email with your thoughts and favorites!
